INTRODUCTION

Indira Gandhi Post Graduate college Is accelerating towards excellence , with limited resources it is  continuously driving the students towards better future while making them a good human being, along with  nurturing their personality in totality.
Our work is admired  not only by stakeholders but also by 2 Prestigious National award winners
1 Teejan Bai -(Padma Vibhushan 2019 ,Padma Bhushan 2003, Padma Shri 1987,Sangeet NatakAkademi Award 1995, Fukuoka Prize 2018)  who was very much impressed my our efforts for Chhattisgarhi culture  preservation efforts “CHINHARI”.

2.John Martin Nelson- (Padma Shree 2008), already has shown appreciation towards our efforts by Gifting the college a self made statue of Shri Vivekanandji.
Indira Gandhi government post graduate college Vaishali Nagar, was established on 12^thjuly 1989.
It has 10.61 acres of land with 1967.77 build up area completely covered with boundary  walls.

It is under the aeges of Hemchand University ,Durg. The institution was awarded with B++ grade in NAAC assessment in 2016.
Since then college has  improved in every field. Even The college has also substantially increased the use of ICT facilities in teaching, learning, evaluation and administration.
 The college is a multifaculty Co-education, Post graduate college which imparts education  in  three streams  science , arts and commerce, has post graduation in 5 subjects and at present
 College is running41 programs  and 242  courses, and 5 Value added courses.
Students are heterogeneous from , rural and slum  background.
In 20-21 college had 1871 students perusing graduate and post graduate courses where 1323  girls and  548 boys are studying  at present.
Seat limitations, admissions  are according to government rules ,on merit and state government reservation policy. Since  18-19 the admission is given online basis

The college has  25sanctioned post  for teaching staff, and 20 for non teaching staff including Prinicipal, Sports Officer and Librarian.

All the regular teaching staff except  3 are PhD. ,and have completed their orientation and refresher courses ,besides they have attended and handled numerous National and  international Webinars, Seminars, FDP”s to their credit. Registered guides in Hemchand Universityand have  respectable publications in national and international journals, while some have individual books and chapters published. Dr. Merily Roy has been interviewed at International Poetry Competition at BELAGAVI.
 College has an IQAC to monitor development in academic field as well as non academic field .
The college conducted a number of various extension activities under the banner of NSS/NCC/parishads/committies. The NSS has 2 units (100+50) and it has won  National young leaders award  for 100 hours of Shramdaan in 2017 and the students attend NSS camps, Mountaineering camps etc.1 Student has even scaled Mt. Hatu.

NCC naval wing of the college is first in district and only 4^th in the state where 1 cadet represented  in Republic day parade  In Delhi, 1cadet received 1^st prize in shipbuilding competition, 1Cadet received Gold medal in All India competition. They get the opportunity   to participate in many prestigious events. The NCC officer himself has completed  reputed PRCN course from Kampti. NCC along with Placement cell has guided the cadets for recruitments in Indian Army, Indian Airforce and Indian  Navy by directly communicating online with the officers of Air force , Army and Navy.
We have a library with over 23257 books  (including braille books),  200 e-books, 3 journals along with library automation system, a decent reading room, Thesis gallery and Author”s club.
Well developed labs for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology , Geography and Industrial Microbiology along with a functional English lab.
All the government rules for Payment, allowances, loans, all leaves such as Medical, maternity,  child care , casual leaves etc, payments  after retirement of employee or  in case of demise, are taken care of according to the government rules.
Believing in sarvadharmasambhav all religious festivals are celebrated in college. The office staff, technicians are also involved in enhancement of academic degree and have broughhonours to college by participating and winning the university competitions.
Our college is taking special interest  in preservation of Chhattisgarhi culture “CHINHARI” and developing a sense of admiration for our roots in the students , which has specially won hearts of Resp. Padmshree Teejan Bai.
By participating in various donation spree  and helping older persons (Orphanage, old age homes, Teaching by students in Shishusadan)the students get to know the value of caring and sharing and develop care for humans and Animals too. We have adopted one orphanage and take special care in old age home.
College takes special care of teaching dissections without harming animals as advised by UGC , which has been  specially applauded  by the” People for Animals , Durg Chapter.”
We have MOU with  10institutions,to benefit our students and faculty.
The cherry on the cake is that Our college is also a mentor for two  government colleges (by Orders  of Higher education Department Chhattisgarh)- 1. Than Khamaria and 2. Bemetra.
Our state suffered a lot in COVID -19 pandemic and many lockdown phases were administered. Being a government institution all the orders  were followed ,issued by government  and  University even for online , blended and offline classes, video lectures etc. College  followed all the corona protocols  and donated  mask and sanitizers to locals. The institution  announces proudly that we have done appropriate COVID awareness programs.

The institution has its own vision and mission ,with vision document.
College has its own policy for-Specially abled,( Divyangjan policy),Ethical committee, SRI policy. Green policy. We have wheel chair and ramps.
Promotes research where college has developed its own cleaning agent which is used  in cleaning.
The institution has organized numerous National and international webinars, Online  international cultural exchange programs, Have won national laurels in Sports, NCC(Naval wings), NSS and quiz competitions. Blood donations have been done by staff and students. Our office staff has also won awards from university.
For girls  the security and facility are at par to girls college.
Active alumni  is a boon for our college. One Alumni  Mr. Sukhnandan Sahu (Ex NSS Volenteer)decorates the college entrance  by beautiful  Rangoli on important occasions, which shows the affinity and connection maintained  by the institute with alumni.
